Advantages of laser intervention
EVTL method (endovenous laser treatment) is a gentle laser treatment of varicose veins in the legs. The treatment is performed under local anaesthesia.
The procedures before the treatment include ultrasound examination of vascular systém, laboratory tests, EKG examination and the recommendation of the internist.
The fibre of diode laser is delivered into the vein, which closes. Slow pulling out of the fibre causes thermocoagulation. The vein is closed only for 2-3 minutes depending on the size of treated area. The intervention takes 30-40 minutes.
A patient can move immediately after the treatment. Compression stockings must be worn for 1-2 weeks, however, after 2 days only when moving. No sick leave is needed.
Laser treatment is a highly effective method, yet relapse can never be ruled out. Potential worsening can be solved by injection treatment – sclerotherapy.
