There is no way to completaly prevent varicose veins, as they are mainly inherited. However, we can decrease risk factors, which help the development of varicose veins. Reducing your weight is beneficial to varicose vein prevention. Best exercises are fast walking or running, biking and swimming.
Right footwear is very important. Avoid high heels. (max 5 cm).
Avoid long periods of standing or sitting.
The circulation in your legs can be improved by wearing compression stockings. Compression stockings are recommended during long flights (4 hours and more) to avoid the „syndrom of economy class“, the risk of embolism or thrombosis.
Healthy diet, food containing enough of fibre, vitamins and bioflavonoids, is recommended as well. Sufficient fluid intake dilutes blood, which prevents slow circulation and formation of blood clot.
